We view the world from our own unique perspective

Joanne maintains a lively studio practice which includes figure painting and portraiture, creating large floral “indoor gardens” on canvas,  and Plein Air painting. Painting outdoors is a great teacher for  understanding light and temperature change with value and color.  As a teaching artist she works with elementary school students, adults, and also with a teen program through the Multnomah County Library Events calendar. Joanne mindfully brings her studio practice into the community and classroom integrating curriculum with the student’s diverse interests. These custom tailored art lessons exercise critical thinking skills as a foundation for problem solving while students creatively have fun and learn their own system for creating content and composition as they build confidence in handling different materials.
